Level II Soft Armor Exceeds Protection Standards Passing Special Threat Testing
HighCom Armor’s Trooper sa2910™ Soft Armor Panel is an armor panel currently in use by Law Enforcement and First Responders due to its ultra-lightweight construction and high performance for everyday wear. Level II Testing Standards
The NIJ requires rigorous testing conditions and protocols in order for soft armor to receive NIJ 0101.06 certification against certain Level II handgun rounds, yet currently, no certification program exists for soft armor to receive certification against special threats. The table below details the NIJ Level II threats the Trooper sa2910 Soft Armor Panels are certified to protect against.

Request for Testing
Recently, HighCom Armor was approached by a client requesting facilitating additional testing on the Trooper sa2910 Soft Armor Panel beyond current Level II standards to handgun special threats they are seeing in the field.
Testing
The Trooper sa2910 was submitted to one of HighCom’s third-party partnered NVLAP accredited ballistic laboratories for testing, where the soft armor panel was tested against various projectiles and ranges, including contact shots from 9mm +P+ (SXT), as well as 7.62 x 25mm Tokarev 85 gr FMJ, .357 SIG, 125-grain Gold Dot Hollow Point (GDHP), and .357 Sig 125gr T-series, Winchester Ranger. The unique ballistics testing went beyond the NIJ Standard 0101.06 Level II Threat testing against the 40 S&W Full Metal Jacketed (FMJ), 9mm Full Metal Jacketed Round Nose (FMJ RN), and the .357 Magnum Jacketed Soft Point (JSP) handguns which is currently listed on the NIJ’s Compliant Product List (CPL).
Special Threat Testing Outcome
The performance outcome of the Trooper sa2910 was significant, as testing demonstrated the soft armor panel passed testing against additional special threats, which is uncommon to receive for a Level II package. With its multi-hit capabilities against NIJ 0101.06 certified handgun threats, end users can also rest assured knowing if faced against special threats outside common handgun projectiles during deployment, the Trooper sa2910 is going to perform beyond the certified standard by the NIJ for Level II soft armor.

Capable of Level III+ Protection when worn with the Guardian 3i7m
The Trooper sa2910 was further tested with our Guardian 3i7m™ ICW Level III+ plate by an independent NIJ laboratory according to the NIJ 0101.06 standard of protection. We are thrilled to announce that the sa2910 is capable of stopping Level III+ threats when worn in conjunction with the Guardian 3i7m.
